Well this one may take more than one blog. So much happened in these few months. More than I am sure to remember. Well throughout the whole pregnancy I was researcing all different things that had to do with pregnany, motherhood and babies. I went on vacation in July to Utah. So I was pretty far along and went to an extremely hot summer place. Though we did spend most of the time in Park City, it was still really hot. I remember getting a pretty bad sunburn that hurt more than usual, being pregnant and all. I remember I was pretty tired throughout the week. I did have a lot of fun with everyone though. I was still able to stay up til the wee hours of the night playing Settlers of Catan and cards with everyone. Still memorable. The last time I got to see fireworks for the last time in who knows when. Since we don't have darkness in July, fireworks suck then. :(
So anyways, when we got back from vacation I started thinking more about where I was going to deliver the baby. I called the hospital and the clinic trying to get the prices of what it was going to cost me to deliver in the hospital. They pretty much said there were too many "what if's" to give me a number. By the fifth call I finally was able to get a fax that had round figures from the hospital and the clinic gave me numbers. The hospital itself would charge about $4000 for a vaginal delivery and the clinic (dr or midwife) charged another $4000. For some reason we had thought it was either or not being charged by both places. So we were not planning on $8000. That sounded ridiculous. So I called a local midwife that my sister had used to deliver her children in a homebirth. At 35 weeks we changed midwives. It was the most wonderful decision we could have ever made. They were kind of nervous about taking me on being so far along and all. But we started with our first appointment. Brought all records from the clinic. Things went crazy fast and crazy slow after that. I will continue later with my last month of fun times...

weekend craze
So it has been four days since posting a blog. Yikes, that is horrible of me. So on to my second trimester...
So this would be around April or May, started showing a little more. Started gaining more weight. Though not really thinking about it because I was pretty skinny before getting pregnant. It started to get warmer due to it being spring and summer. And I am not usually hot in Alaska during the summer, but this time I felt extremely hot. I bought capris and wore them quite often. There were 3 of us girls at work that were pregnant at this time. One of the girls had her baby in March. Of course everyone from work including me went to visit her and hold the baby. I was getting pretty excited. :)
So then summer comes. We decide to get our house painted. So I am calling around everywhere getting estimates for our house. In the middle of the summer we got our house done and it looks great. There was a minor setback when it started raining one of the days they were working on it. But they fixed it all up. I remember that it smelled so bad. But once you got inside the house you couldn't really smell it. Not much adventure for the 2nd trimester. I was growing. I was eating. And I was peeing a whole lot more. To be continued..

first few months
So after finding out we were pregnant, I of course wanted to find out everything and go shopping already. We visited the midwife at the hospital once a month. All was well. Until about 3 months along, I was at work and didn't drink enough water. I got faint and almost passed out. My husband had to take me to the Triage center of the maternity ward where they were going to insert an IV, but I decided to rather down a gallon of water in an hour. Pretty hard and a lot of peeing happening, but much better then an iv. After that day, I always made sure to drink over a gallon of water a day. So my little baby was growing like crazy. I was still wearing regular clothes and very happy for that.
Every month I was thinking more about our future as a family. About the babies nursery, about the baby shower, about everything we needed to be prepared, and about everything I needed to know in order to make sure I was giving the baby everything while inside me.
While I was pregnant I felt so sure of myself. It has always been my goal to be a mother, and it was finally coming true. So this was my calling in life, to bring this soal to the Earth and raise him as best as I could. My ultimate wish is to have a big family and be a stay at home mom. Home schooling the kids, baking and cooking, and being a good mom and wife. I still think about this every day, and can't wait for the day when I can quit my job and be home with my baby everyday.
So yes this is what I had always wanted. I was so happy to have this life inside of me. Anyways, four months in I had an ultrasound, which is seen in the blog previous to this. Found out it was a boy. And started making more plans. 2nd trimester is to come in the next blog...

first baby
I have gotten a little used to bogging just a regular journal type blog everyday, then thought it might be useful to blog about something meaningful. Like mom and baby stuff.
I have a one year old little boy, Ryan. He is the most wonderful baby in the world. Hardly cries at all and doesn't have many problems. He has learned how to sign a few words by the hard work of his daycare provider, our wonderful friend. She takes time with him to play and teach him new things, without someone I trust and care about so much, I know I would not be comfortable being at work full time.
So as my husband and I were trying to get pregnant we went over many different things about what we wanted and how we wanted the pregnancy and labor to go. I tried to talk him into a home birth. My sister has had all three of her children at home and it went wonderfully. But I have bad back problems, so we decided to go through a midwife with a clinic. Therefore we would be having the baby in the hospital.
Through this blog I will go through as much of my pregnancy and delivery and up to now as I can remember. For now I will leave you with the day I found out I was pregnant. Mid January I took an at home test, it was positive. So I went to the Dr. to confirm it, and there I was prego. I called and told my husband and we were ecstatic. Tomorrow..further into the pregnancy.
